The well-known and well-loved Braves announcer Skip Caray passed away at his Atlanta home today at the age of 68 just days away from his 69th birthday on August 12th. The announcer was the son of Harry Caray, a Hall of Fame announcer of the Cubs that use to make the play-by-play for the calls as well. Caray leaves behind his wife, Paula, two sons, Josh and Chip, and two daughters Shayelyn and Cindy. Josh is an announcer for the Braves’ Class A organization in Rome while Chip is the announcer for the TBS MLB coverage as well as the Braves announcer. Caray had been batting the effects of Diabetes and had missed this weekend’s games due to bronchitis. Caray began broacasting Braves games in 1976 and will be missed in the Braves family and by Major League Baseball.
