Pirates 5, Braves 0

After yesterday’s game was delayed until today, Jair Jurrjens took the mound in the first game of a doubleheader.  Jurrjens went five innings and gave up three hits.  However, one of those hits was in the Fifth inning when he gave up a two-out, bases-loaded double to Freddy Sanchez resulting three runs in the inning. The Pirates tagged on two more in the Eighth for final score of 5-0 shutout win.  The Braves had more overall hits than the Pirates with 8 to their 5, but were unable to capitalize at the plate.  In each of the first seven innings, the Braves had a baserunner, but were never able to score.  Atlanta dropped another road game and continue to search for a turn-around this afternoon in the second game of the doubleheader. In their first 18 road games, the Braves have just won 4.  There was a bright side for third baseman Chipper Jones who was able to record a hit for his third consecutive game going 3 for 4 on the day. Jones leads the Majors with a .410 batting average.
