Morton Gets Win After Three Consecutive Start Losses

by @ 3:56 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

Charlie Morton held the Arizona Diamondbacks to no runs on five hits in seven innings while striking out four.  Morton is now three and five after yesterday’s win following his three previous losses.  The Braves took the lead 1-0 in the First and never gave it up.  Mark Kotsay made it 2-0 in the Fifth with a solo home run, and then in the Eighth the Braves rallied for four, but the Damondbacks came back in the bottom of the Eighth for four runs of their own.  Yunel Escobar had two RBIs in the four-run Eighth Inning rally.  Casey Kotchman, Gregor Blanco, and Brian McCann also had RBIs on the day. Tonight in the second game of the series, Jorge Campillo (6-4) will get the start against Doug Davis (4-6).  The Braves remain 9.5 games behind the Phillies in First for the NL East standings.
