The Atlanta Braves lost 5-4 on Thursday against the New York Mets as the Mets broke the tie in the Ninth on a misplayed ball by Omar Infante. Yunel Escobar hit the first pitch of the game in deep for his seventh homer of the season. Atlanta was up in the Sixth when Infante hit a RBI single, but the Mets came back to tie it up in the Seventh. Mike Hampton had been set up for the win but the Braves just couldn’t hold out. For the Mets Pedro Martinez went seven innings giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking one. The Braves are now set to take on the Cardinals in a three game series.
