Even though the 370-consecutive game streak of Jeff Francoeur came to end on Tuesday night in the sixth inning of the second game of the doubleheader, Francoeur came off his rest by going a double shy of cycle helping Jair Jurrjens led the Braves to an 11-4 win. Jurrjens went five innings gaining his fifth victory and allowing only one run while striking out one and giving up only five hits. In the process, Jurrjens lowered his ERA to 2.64. In the Sixth inning Francouer’s homer ended his drought of 133 consecutive homerless at-bats. Just prior to Francouer, Chipper Jones in the Fifth inning hit his 398th career home run and 12th of the season. Jones now joins legendary favorite Dale Murphy on the Braves all-time home run list at 45th. Mark Teixeira also had a great night at the plate going 3 for 5 with three RBIs. On Thursday night Chipper Jones continued his hot streak at the plate helping a Tim Hudson in his solid performance minus back-to-back home runs in the Second by hitting the go-ahead RBI single in the Seventh to give the Braves the 4-2 win. Hudson might have given up those homers in the Second but with the help of Jones at the plate and Kelly Johnson who had three hits including the double in the Seventh that ignited the rally that resulted in the RBI by Jones. Hudson went eight innings striking out four and giving up two earned runs on seven hits getting his seventh win for the season. The Braves are now five games over .500 for the first time this season. The Braves took on the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at Turner Field with Jorge Campillo (1-0) facing off against Randy Johnson (4-1).
