The Braves won their home opener and it was their second straight win to open up the season. Lew Burdette held the Reds scoreless and he gave up six hits and a walk with two strikeouts in the complete game shutout.
Hank Aaron accounted for the only run of the game. His solo shot in the sixth inning was the difference in the win. Bill Bruton singled twice and had the only multihit game for the Braves.
