Hank Aaron belted his 40th homerun of the season as the Braves tried to get back on track with a win over the Pirates. It was the first time the young centerfielder had hit 40 in a season. Eddie Mathews had the big day at the plate though. He went three for three with a walk, his 31st homerun, a double, two RBIs and two runs.
Lew Burdette improved to 15-8 with the win. He gave up three runs on twelve hits with three strikeouts in the complete game win.
