The Braves lost 9-3 this afternoon to the Diamondbacks as veteran Tom Glavine gave up two home runs including a grand slam to Eric Byrnes in the Fifth. Omar Infante and Yunel Escobar both had RBIs for Atlanta, but the damage done to Glavine in just 4 2/3 innings was too much for the Braves to recover. The grand slam by Byrnes was only the second grand slam Glavine has given up in his 22 seasons as a pitcher in the Majors. Glavine also walked a season-high of six batters and is now 2 and 2 for the season. All the excitement and momentum created just last-night off the walk-off home run delivered by Jeff Francoeur was crushed this afternoon when the Braves were unable to get the win with the veteran on the mound. Chipper Jones was scratched from the lineup prior to the game due to back spasms, but he is expected to play tomorrow night for the last game of the Arizona series. Jair Jurrjens (5-3) will start on the mound tomorrow against Brandon Webb (9-1) before Atlanta heads to Milwaukee to battle the Brewers away.
