Jair Jurrjens lasted seven innings on the mound only allowing two runs on eight hits, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Braves lost 5-1 as Atlanta’s offense could not get the job done while the Giants came alive against the Atlanta bullpen. Jurrjens had control throughout the night not walking anyone and striking out nine. Chipper Jones knocked in Atlanta’s only run and is now batting .366. The Braves bullpen has been overworked in recent games with the starters not having solid outings, so when one starter finally does, the bullpen just couldn’t come from the recent slam. The Braves take on the Giants again tonight with Mike Hampton on the mound looking to end the current five-game losing streak.
