Escobar Breaks Game Open in Fifth

by @ 7:45 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

After being held to just a lone hit by Mark Teixeira on Monday night, the Braves last night went to the Fifth inning without having a hit before they loaded the bases.  Then with the bases loaded, Yunel Escobar came to the plate and hit a double to drive in all three runs.  Jair Jurrjens pitched five innings giving up six hits and one earned run while striking out six and walking three.  Jurrjens is now 9-4 with a 3.00 ERA.  Brian McCann went 2 for 4 with two home runs and a walk on the day and Mark Teixeira went 1 for 5 with a homer. The Braves take on the Dodgers for the final game of the three-game series with Tim Hudson on the mound looking to secure the series victory.  Atlanta is now five games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the race for the NL East title.
