The Braves took care of the Giants and they scored all four of their runs via the long ball. Eddie Mathews belted a two run shot in the sixth inning, his 25th of the season, while Joe Torre and Red Schoendienst both went yard with solo shots.
Lew Burdette improved to 14-7 with the win. He gave up three runs on eleven hits and two walks with a strikeout in seven solid frames. Don McMahon threw two perfect innings and he picked up hi seventh save of the season.
