The Cubs won 10-2 against the Braves this afternoon in the make-up of last night’s game postponed game due to rain. Charlie Morton gave up four runs in just 2 1/3 innings on four hits while also walking four, putting Atlanta in a hole they would not be able to climb out of even with the bat of Omar Infante driving in a run and going 3 for 4 on the day. Jim Edmonds hit a two-run homer in the Third off Morton before Morton was taken out of the game. Mark Kotsay drove in the other run for the Braves. Manager Bobby Cox was ejected before the Fifth Inning could start when he was arguing with the third base umpire about the lights. Cox did not want to wait for the lights to finish powering up and instead wanted to continue the game despite the ruling by the umpires to wait for the lights. It was Cox’s 142nd all-time ejection. Also ejected in the game was relief pitcher Francisley Bueno for a high pitch that went above the head of the batter Alfonso Soriano in the 9th. Now tonight in the second game the Braves will look to redeem themselves with Charlie Morton getting the start on the mound.
