Welcome to my Braves blog. I’m Ryan Rogers and my dad was a life long Braves fan and grew up with the team when they were in Boston. By the time I came into the picture, the Braves had been in Atlanta for a few years and I grew to love the team as much as my dad. What made it especially easy was that I really got to know the team when TBS covered most of the games even though we had moved to Ohio. I followed the Braves through their tough times in the 1980s and loved the 1990s because of it.
We all know the Braves didn’t make the playoffs this year for the first time in a long time so I’m here to help chronicle their re-emergence. I’ll follow what happens during the offseason, including the eventual sale of the team, but I’m also going to go back to the team’s past. This off-season, I’m going to take a hard look at the 1957 Braves team. We’re close to the 50th anniversary of that championship team and I’ll be taking a look at the players on that team. Then when the season starts, I’m going to follow that team day by day in a diary format (see Tigerblog for an example, he did them for both the 1984 and 1935 Tigers) up through the World Series win.
And of course once the 2007 starts, I’ll be helping you follow that as well. I hope you have as much fun reading what I throw up on the site as much as I have writing it and I hope you’ll stop back and check in from time to time.
