The Cardinals trumped the Braves on Friday night 18-3. Charlie Morton had the best taken from him by the Cardinals as he gave up four runs in 1 1/3 innings while walking five. The damage was done and the Cardinals continued to extend their lead throughout the night. Albert Pujols went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs for St. Louis. Greg Norton hit a pinch hit homer while Kelly Johnson and Brandon Johnson each had an RBI. On Saturday, the Braves bounced back to win 8-4 as Jorge Campillo gave the Braves a good start. Campillo went five innings giving up three runs on seven hits. Norton pinch hit to drive in two runs in the Eighth with two outs to put Atlanta in the lead, then Jeff Francoeur added a two-run single in the Ninth to seal the deal for Atlanta’s win after losing six in a row. Yesterday, the Cardinals returned to take the win and the series as Atlanta lost 6-3. The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead in the First but the Braves rallied for three in the Second, and as the Cardinals were able to tack on a few more runs, the Braves were not. Jo-Jo Reyes gave up six runs (5 earned) in 5 2/3 innings and on the other end the three runs came from two-run single by Reyes who tried to help his cause and Gregor Blanco drove in another run. The Braves will now return to Atlanta to take on the Marlins in a three-game series starting tomorrow.
