Bob Buhl had a tough start and he fell to 9-3 as the Braves six game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Cardinals. Buhl gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in 2 1/3 innings. In all, four Braves errors led to five unearned runs.
Hank Aaron hit his 24th homer of the season with a solo shot in the fifth inning. Wes Covington went three for five with a homerun and two RBIs in the loss.
