Cardinals 5, Braves 4 (82-50)
The Braves three game winning streak came to an end as the Cardinals won an exciting 5-4, twelve inning game. The Cardinals tagged Juan Pizzaro for four runs in the first inning and the Braves clawed their back into it with three in the second on a three run homer by Del Rice and they tied it in the fifth with an Eddie Mathews solo shot. Then nobody scored for six innings until the Cardinals finally ended it in the twelth when Don McMahon was tagged for a run.
McMahon fell to 0-3 on the season. Along with driving in most of the Braves runs, Rice was also the only Braves hitter with a pair of hits.
