Braves Win in 17th Inning Against Astros

by @ 2:21 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

After almost a two-hour rain delay and more than five hours of baseball, the Braves were finally able to capitalize on a bases-loaded single from Mark Teixeira to win the game in 17th inning in the longest game in Turner Field’s history.  By the end of the day both bullpens were completed exhausted and the Braves won in extra-innings by one run a rarity for the team this season.  The Braves tied the game at 6 in the Eighth inning with a two-out, two-run single by Yunel Escobar.  Chipper Jones went 3 for 5 with a homer, triple and four RBIs on the day. Charlie Morton was able to turn things around from his previous start going six innings and giving up six earned runs on eight hits for the day while striking out and walking two. The Braves will now head to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers in a three-game series.
