The Braves won their eighth straight game and it was their thirteenth win in fourteen games as the improved their National League lead to six games over the Cardinals. Lew Burdette not only got it done on the mound but he helped out his own cause in a big way at the plate. He went three for four with two homeruns, four RBIs and three runs and on the mound, he gave up four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks in the complete game win.
Red Schoendienst also had a nice game. He went three for five with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.
