Braves Take Two In Doubleheader Sweep Over Cardinals

Braves 4, Cardinals 2  (15-7)

The Brves got a nice start from Lew Burdette in the first game of their doubleheader with the Cardinals.  He gave up two runs on six hits and one walk with one strikeout in nine innings. 

Hank Aaron provided most of the offense. He went two for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.  Joe Adcock was three for four and he drove in a run.

Hank Aaron went yard for the ninth time this season as he capped off a great couple of games in the twin billing.  He went two for five with the homerun and he drove in three and scored twice.  Eddie Mathews hit homerun number five and he drove in three runs as well.  Danny O’Connell also had a great game.  He went two for four with three runs and two RBIs.

Red Murff lasted only four innings and he gave up four runs in a tough start.  Taylor Phillips picked up the win with five shutout innings of relief.
