Braves Still Struggling, Lose to Cardinals

by @ 8:17 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

In the start of the series against the Cardinals the Braves lost 12-3 with Charlie Morton allowing 8 earned runs on 7 hits in just 3 2/3 innings.  Mark Kotsay and Yunel Escobar both drove in a run.  In game two of the series, the Braves lost 8-3 with the Cardinals scoring the winning run in the Eighth with the game tied at two when Albert Pujols came home on a throwing error by catcher Corky Miller and the Cardinals topping off the win with five runs in the Ninth off Mike Gonzalez. Jeff Francoeur, Gregor Blanco, and Greg Norton each drove in a run to account for Atlanta’s three runs on the day. Jorge Campillo who had the start for the game allowed two earned runs on seven hits in seven innings, but Atlanta couldn’t help him secure a win.  In other Braves news, Mark Teixeira was traded to the LA Angels for first baseman Casey Kotchman, who is expected to join the team on Wednesday in game three of the series against the Cardinals.  The Braves are hoping Kotchman will reach the potential of Teixeira over time.
