Braves Split Doubleheader With Giants

Giants 2, Braves 0  (56-41)

The Braves were held to just seven hits in a shutout loss to the Giants in their first game of a doubleheader.  Nippy Jones had three of the Braves seven hits and Red Schoendienst had two hits.

Bob Trowbridge fell to 3-3 on the season despite a decent start.  He gave up two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Braves 5, Giants 3  (57-41)

The Braves salvaged a split in their doubleheader with the Giants with a big fourth inning in which they scored four of their five runs.  Eddie Mathews singled and he drove in two runs while Johnny Logan went three for four with a run and an RBI.

Gene Conley improved to 5-5 on the season with a nice start.  He gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits with two strikeouts in the complete game win.
