Braves Split Doubleheader With Cubs

Braves 5, Cubs 2  (23-14)

The Braves won their third straight game the front end of a double header againt the Cubs.  Ray Crone picked up the win with a nice start.  He gave up two runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in a complete game.

Bill Bruton hit a solo shot and he scored two runs in the win.  Del Rice hit a two run shot and he was the only Brave with two hits.

Cubs 4, Braves 2  (24-14)

The Braves three game winning streak ended in the second game of a double header with the Cubs.  Taylor Phillips lost his first game of the season and he gave up just one run in 1 2/3 innings.  Red Murff gave up three runs in 3 1/3 innings.

Bobby Thomson hit a solo homerun in the loss.  Danny O’Connell singled and he drove in a run.
