Braves 14, Reds 4 (79-48)
Just about everyone was a hitting star in a pretty heavy offensive onslaught over the Reds. Five Braves homered, three drove in three runs a piece and two different Braves scored three times. Red Schoendienst had a team high four hits and Hank Aaron hit his 38th homerun of the season.
Lew Burdette got the start but he couldn’t benefit from all of the offense because of a poor start. He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks and he was able to get just one batter out. Juan Pizarro pitched all of the rest 8 2/3 innings and he improved to 5-6. He gave up two runs on six hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.
