Braves Hammer Reds With Four Homer Attack

Braves 9, Reds 5  (78-48)

Four Braves went yard in a blowout win over the Reds in their series opener.  Eddie Mathews continued his hot hitting with his 27th while Joe Torre, Wes Covington and Carl Sawatski all belted homers in the game.  Red Schoendienst went two for four with a walk and he scored three times.

Warren Spahn improved to 17-8 with the win.  He gave up three runs on eight hits and five walks with two strikeouts in six innings.  Taylor Phillips struck out the final batter of the game and he picked up his second save of the season.
