Braves 2, Dodgers 1 (85-54)
The Braves were outhit 7-4 but they made them count as they won a controversial game in the bottom of the ninth. With the game tied 1-1, Johnny Logan led off with a single and then Wes Covington hit into what could have been a double play but one of the umpires had stepped away so the pitch didn’t count. Covington then singled to put two runners on before Del Crandall eventually singled home the game winning run.
The Braves scored their only other run in the fourth inning when Andy Pafko singled home Eddie Mathews to put the Braves on the board. Mathews and Covington reached base a team high three times with a hit and two walks a piece.
Bob Buhl gave up the lone run and he was pulled in the fourth when he gave up a walk to load the bases. Bob Trowbridge did a nice job though and he not only pitched the Braves out of that jam, but he held the Dodgers scoreless the rest of the way.
