Braves 7, Phillies 6 (35-27)
The Braves ended their three game losing streak with a win over the Phillies in game one of their doubleheader. The Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first but the Phillies tied it up in the ninth 6-6 in an impressive comeback. Hank Aaron singled home Red Schoendienst in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it though and prevent the game from going into extra frames.
Bill Bruton had a nice day at the plate in the win. He went two for four with a homerun and three runs scored. Eddie Mathews went three for five with a double and a run.
Bob Buhl went the distance and he improved to 8-2 on the season. He gave up six runs on ten hits and six walks with two strikeouts.

Braves 7, Phillies 3 (36-27)
The Braves had entered today with three straight losses and six losses in seven games. They finished the day with two wins as they complete a doubleheader sweep behind another nice game by Bill Bruton. The centerfielder went two for four with a triple, three RBIs and a run. Eddie Mathews pitched in with a solo shot, his twelth homerun of the season.
Taylor Phillips improved to 3-2 with a nice start. He gave up three runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings. Bob Trowbridge pitched three innings of shutout relief to close out the game and he earned his first save of the season.
