Braves 5, Pirates 4 (46-35)
The Braves held off a late inning surge by the Pirates to hold on to win their second straight game. Warren Spahn threw a nice game but he needed help in the ninth after getting into trouble. Spahn improved to 9-7 and he gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings. Don McMahon got the final two batters out to earned his second save of the season.
Hank Aaron homered and drove in two runs. The long ball was his 28th of the season. Johnny Logan belted a solo shot and Joe Torre drove in two runs in the win.
