In four innings Chuck James struggled on the mound giving up five earned runs on six hits including three homers and walking five. In combination with the Braves lack of offense at the plate with a total of four hits with one each by Omar Infantante, Jeff Francoeur, Brian McCann, and Gregor Blanco. The Braves were shutout 5-0 by Cole Hamels of Philadelphia. Hamels pitched a complete game in which he walked two and struck out six limiting the Braves to the four hits mentioned above. The Braves have continually struggled this season on the road and last night it did not help their cause in having the MLB-leading hitter Chipper Jones with a .418 batting average out of the lineup with a sore groin, but in the end no matter the reason the Braves have to turn things around against Oakland by returning to winning at home, but also need to become more successful outside of home sweet home Turner Field.
