Braves Drop First Two Games of Series Against Mets

by @ 7:56 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

The Braves lost the first two games of a three-game series to the Mets at Shea Stadium 7-3 and 6-3.  Jo-Jo Reyes got the start in the first game, his first start since returning from Triple-A.  He held the Mets to two runs and the braves were leading 3-2 when he exited the game after six solid innings, but the Braves bullpen gave up five runs in the Eighth to give the Mets the 7-3 victory.  Then in the second tonight, the struggles started in the First for the Braves as Jair Jurrjens gave up five runs and the defense committed two errors.  Gregor Blanco went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run in the loss.  The Mets starter Mike Pelfrey pitched a complete game giving up three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out three. In tomorrow night’s final game of the series, Mike Hampton (2-1) will get the start against Pedro Martinez (4-3).
