Cubs 5, Braves 4 (82-52)
It wasn’t a sweet homecoming as the Cubs came to Milwaukee and handed the Braves their third straight defeat. A three run lead turned into a 5-3 deficit in a hurry as Bob Trowbridge was tagged for five runs in just the seventh inning. Trowbridge fell to 5-5 and it’s unfortunate because up until that point, he had thrown six shutout innings.
Bob Hazle belted a solo homer in the sixth inning, his sixth long ball of the season. Red Schoendienst was the only Braves hitter with more then one hit and he went two for five with a double and a run.
