Braves 4, Cardinals 2 (92-57)
The Braves won their seventh straight game and clinched the National League pennant all in one fell swoop with an eleven inning win over the Cardinals. Hank Aaron fittingly provided the heroics with a two run, eleventh inning walk off homer to win it for the Braves in front of their home crowd. Aaron finished the game three for four with two walks and he both drove in two and scored twice.
Lew Burdette gave a solid effort with ten innings of work and he gave up just two runs on nine hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Gene Conley pitched a perfect eleventh and he improved to 9-9 on the season.
