The Braves lost 4-0 yesterday in the second game of the series against the Marlins. Charlie Morton gave up only two hits in just over five innings of work and held the Marlins hitless in 3 and 2/3 innings, but one of those two hits was a three-run homer in the Fourth and the Braves were never able to recover as Morton suffered his third loss of the season. Rick VandenHurk of the Marlins held the Braves hitless in five innings of work while striking out seven and walking five. Atlanta’s lone hit of the day came from Chipper Jones when he led off the Sixth with a single. In the last game of the series tonight, the Braves will look to gain ground in the NL East standings with Tim Hudson (10-7) taking the mound against Ricky Nolasco (10-5).
