Last night the Braves came back after a five-game losing streak to beat the Giants 11-5. Starter Mike Hampton went six innings striking out four while allowing two runs on seven hits and walking two. Hampton also had an RBI single in the Third. The offense had things together with Jeff Francoeur going four for five with 2 RBIs and Omar Infante and Greg Norton both had two RBIs as well. With great momentum going into today’s game, the Braves were looking to start a winning streak, but the Giants came back to take an early lead and never surrender it winning 3-1. Charlie Morton pitched six innings for the Braves giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out six as the Braves starters are starting to give solid outings. However, it wouldn’t be enough as the bats just couldn’t get going and they were held to two hits in the first seven innings. The Braves did have a short-lived rally in the Eighth in which Mark Kotsay had an RBI single, but once the Giants went to their bullpen the rally ended their with the bases loaded. The last game of the series is tomorrow with Atlanta’s Jorge Campillo (7-5) taking on Barry Zito (6-15) of San Francisco.
